Lillet blanc spritz with cinnamon simple syrup in a wine glass.

I’ve been positively brimming with excitement since the holidays to share this delicious cocktail recipe with you, and now that Dry January is over, here it is! Lillet Blanc Spritz with Easy Cinnamon Simple Syrup!

🍹 What Exactly Is a Spritz?

If you haven’t met a classic spritz, you are in for a real treat! A spritz is a light and bubbly cocktail made with an aperitif, sparkling wine, and club soda. Served over ice cubes in a wine glass, it’s incredibly easy to make and dang crushable.

This Lillet Blanc Spritz adds a touch of elegance and warmth with homemade cinnamon simple syrup that you will find endless uses for. The balance of citrus notes and spicy cinnamon makes every sip a cozy, sophisticated treat. Bring it all together by adding a cinnamon stick and orange twist garnish!

This recipe is:

  • Simple - Made from 4 ingredients.

  • Quick – Once the cinnamon simple syrup is steeped, it only takes about 5 minutes to make.

  • Light – At about 10% ABV, this drink is lighter than a glass of wine.

  • Balanced – Gentle citrus, soft sweetness, and a hint of spice make it very easy to sip.

  • Perfect for any occasion – from casual afternoons, easy entertaining, or unwinding at home.

🔖 Simple Ingredients You’ll Need

You’ll find the complete ingredient list with measurements and instructions in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Ingredients for Lillet Blanc spritz

🍊 Lillet Blanc Spritz

Lillet Blanc (not Lillet Rosé or Lillet Rouge) – This ingredient is what makes this cocktail unique. You’ll find it in the fortified wine section of your grocery store.

Prosecco or sparkling wine – Prosecco is my go-to in all spritz recipes. If choosing another sparkling wine, consider Cava, Champagne, or Crémant.

Club soda – You don’t need to get fancy here. Any price-friendly club soda will work just fine.

Ice cubes – Use ice cubes, not crushed ice, which will melt quickly, diluting your drink.

🤎 Cinnamon Simple Syrup

Water – Essential for all simple syrups.

Cane Sugar – Choose organic cane sugar to be sure it’s vegan-friendly.

Pinch of fine sea salt – Helps enhance the cinnamon flavor and balance sweetness.

Cinnamon sticks – Different types of cinnamon that are easy to find are cassia and Ceylon. Use a size that will easily fit into a small jar. 3” sticks work really well.

When you’re ready to make this recipe, scroll down to the recipe card at the end of this post. You’ll find the complete ingredient list with measurements there.

1.   Add the water, sugar, and salt to a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Gently stir until the whole mixture becomes a bubbling mass.

2.   Add the cinnamon sticks. Simmer for 2 minutes, reducing the heat, if necessary, while the sugar dissolves. Side the pan off the heat to cool.

3.   Transfer the mixture, including the cinnamon sticks, to a heatproof glass jar (like a mason jar). Let the syrup cool to room temperature before securing the lid. Place the jar in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours (up to 3 weeks) to develop a stronger cinnamon flavor.

🍊How to Make Lillet Blanc Spritz (with photos)

1.     Fill a wine glass ¾ full of ice cubes (not crushed ice, which will melt quickly)

2.     Pour the Lillet Blanc over the ice cubes, followed by the prosecco, club soda, and cinnamon simple syrup.

3.     Stir gently so you don’t lose carbonation.

4.     Garnish with an orange twist and serve immediately. Enjoy!

❄️ Storage Instructions

How long does simple syrup last in the fridge?

  • Plain simple syrup (1:1 sugar and water) lasts about 1 month in the fridge in an airtight container.

  • Flavored syrup, like cinnamon simple syrup, lasts about 3 weeks.

Tips for longer storage:

  • Store in a sterilized jar or bottle. This can be done in a hot dishwasher or by boiling a glass container (like a mason jar) for 10 minutes. Let the container air dry and cool before using.

  • Store in the coldest part of the fridge. Place the jar at the back of the fridge, not in the door, which is exposed to warm air every time it’s opened.

  • If your simple syrup starts to look murky or has floating bits, that’s a sure sign of spoilage.

Can I make a Lillet Blanc Spritz ahead of time?

  • The fizz is what makes a spritz special, so it should be assembled just before serving.

  • For parties, pre-fill wine glasses with ice cubes, the Lillet Blanc, and the cinnamon simple syrup. Then let guests add their own bubbles from a sparkling wine dispenser and a chilled bottle of club soda. Have a small measuring cup handy for this.

⭐️ Easy Garnish Ideas

1️⃣ Cinnamon stick- Makes an effortless garnish and doubles as a stir stick for your drink.

2️⃣ Orange twist – Adds a bright pop of color and a bright citrus aroma.

To make an orange twist, use a sharp knife to cut a strip of orange peel. A little pith is okay and helps the twist hold its shape. Trim the rough edges away. Use your hands to twist the peel over the drink, releasing the oils. Then drop it in as a garnish! See how in THIS VIDEO.

❓FAQs

What Is the Difference Between an Aperol Spritz and a Lillet Blanc Spritz?

These spritzes share the same ingredient proportions, but different aperitifs. Aperol comes from Italy and Lillet Blanc from France, giving each a distinct look and taste.

Aperol - Bitter forward, slightly sweet, and zesty with an instantly recognizable bold orange color.

Lillet Blanc- Delicate and lightly sweet with notes of orange and spice, and a refined pale gold hue.

Can Lillet Blanc be used in place of vermouth in cocktails?

Yes! Which is good news if you (like me) don’t enjoy the soapy taste of vermouth.

Flavor difference- Vermouth is usually more bitter and herbaceous, while Lillet Blanc is lighter, fruitier, and slightly sweet.

Types of cocktails – Lillet Blanc works well in martinis, vesper-style drinks, and light aperitif cocktails. It won’t fully replace dry or sweet vermouth in cocktails that rely on vermouth’s herbal complexity like a classic Manhattan or Negroni.

Proportions – You can often use a 1:1 swap. For drinks built around vermouth’s bitterness, consider adding a small dash of bitters to balance.

I just know you’re going to loooove this Lillet Blanc Spritz! It’s light, fun, and so perfect for post Dry January celebrating. And with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, you’ll have this little gem up your sleeve in case you want a little liquid sparkle.

Cheers!
